Responsible Erotica Organizations, or REOs, use standard I-9 employment eligibility verification for performers and crew alike. In the United States, this includes at least one piece of government-issued photo identification, such as a driver’s license, state ID, or passport, and at least one proof of residency status, such as a social security card. Additionally, all REOs abide by 2257 documentation laws set forth by The Child Protection and Obscenity Act, established in 1988. 2257 regulation states that producers must obtain and keep record of government-issued proof of age. Additionally, they must establish consent from all performers to produce and distribute content via legally binding contract prior to filming. Producers must maintain all 2257 records while operating and for at least five years following company dissolution. You can learn more about 2257 requirements here.
