Safety on Set

Production sets are regulated environments where all participants focus on executing their respective tasks, akin to other professional entertainment spaces. All REO-approved sets must have a personal assistant or PA available for both the producer and performers to witness and advocate for performers if need be. A PA is comparable to an “Intimacy Coordinator” employed by Hollywood sets where nudity or (implied) explicit behavior is being filmed. It’s not uncommon for producers to use hotel rooms as a cheaper location alternative. Unfortunately, this can create an enclosed and unsettling dynamic where performers have no space to retreat or decompress. REO-approved companies do not allow producers to shoot in hotel rooms, and will only use homes or filming studios to create a safe and comfortable environment on a professional set.

Shared spaces without supervision can be a breeding ground for inappropriate or unwanted activity. REO producers are required to designate a private room for female talent to prepare and relax throughout the shooting process. These performers are granted complete control over room access during their breaks to prevent unwanted disturbances.

REO-approved producers must abide by a standardized code of conduct, which explicitly delineates protocols for any number of situations as well as general behavioral and communication cues. This code of conduct considers all aspects of production, allowing producers to establish a safe, stable environment for cast and crew. The code also clearly lays out consequences for violations as determined by the severity of the action, from simple corrections up to termination-level offenses.
